2025 was another year packed with wonderful people having amazing weddings. As we head into 2026 I mark 10 years as a wedding photographer. The past decade has been an amazing journey which started with me very nervously turning up two hours early to my first ever wedding in a full suit and a pair of smart shoes I hated wearing.
The year saw a new first for me when I was asked to speak about my work at the Effstop conference. It was great to be asked to give a talk about how I work and give practical advice on shooting with a documentary approach at weddings. Also lovely to be told by some attendees they’d brought tickets specifically to see me, something I was glad I didn’t know before my talk as that would not have been good for my nerves!
Something which was hugely satisfying was ranking in the Worldwide Top 10 with This Is Reportage for the second year running.
TiR is the wedding industry’s foremost documentary awards body and an award is exceptionally hard to win. Most rounds see over 10,000 images being entered with usually just 1-3% being awarded.
I finished the year with 6 single image awards and 2 story awards (15-20 images from one wedding) putting me 7th in the world and 3rd in the UK. Last year I finished 5th in the world and 3rd in the UK. To try and match that sort of level again this year was a tough task and something very few photographers have ever achieved, so it’s hugely satisfying as the standard of documentary photography produced by the TiR community is outstanding.
I also finished in 2nd the world with both Photographers Keeping it Real and Nine Dots, and 3rd in the UK & Ireland with Masters of Wedding Photography for the second year running.
My goal each wedding is to honestly tell the story of each couple’s wedding, finding the unique moments which make their day truly theirs. No cookie-cutter images. No shot list. No agenda. Just each wedding day captured as it happens. I’d like to think that my this achievement is testament to the consistency of my approach.
Here’s a little look back over the past 12 months with some of my favourite real moments.
I can’t wait to get stuck into my 11th wedding season in 2026, it’s got some big shoes to fill!
